Description: The Malayan Softshell Turtle is very shy and elusive. This highland species is often found in clear and rocky mountain streams. It possesses a long neck and tubular shaped snout. These freshwater turtles also have a large head and powerful jaws and can inflict a painful bite. Locals believe once it bites, it won't let it's victim go until it hears the sound of thunder. Unfortunately that doesn't stop this turtle from being hunted for food in Asia.
