| Description: |
This species of ant plant can be found abundantly in the highlands of Ba' Kelalan. A symbiotic relationship exists between these plants and ants which makes their home inside the dry and hollow chambers of this epiphytic plant. The thorny tubers of the ant plant provides a safe and protective shelter for ants while the ants provide defense and nutrients for the plant from its wastes. The Lun Bawang tribe in here cut, dry and boil 'bruki' (in Lun Bawang) into a tea like drink to cure high-blood pressure and for general good health. |
