Description: |
Bornean Gibbons travel at an extremely fast pace in the rainforest canopies. These tailless apes possess long powerful arms which allow them to swing great distances between branches. At dawn the loud bubbling calls of the female can be heard for at least one kilometer in all directions. Unfortunately due to rapid habitat loss, illegal hunting and poaching, the numbers of these primates which are endemic to the island of Borneo have greatly dwindled. |
