Description: There are over a thousand species of gingers all over the world. Borneo is especially rich with over a hundred growing on the floors of its tropical rainforests. Its flowers are often striking and brilliantly colored. The indigenous tribes here use different parts of many species as food and medicine. The species featured here is often used as a condiment or vegetable. Even its pleasant smelling fruit is edible.
