Description: |
A Baya Weaver busily putting the finishing touches to his partially built nest. During mating season the males build these odd looking upside-down nests to attract females. If the female 'approves' and chooses to mate with him, they will complete the making of the nest by adding a tunnel to the entrance. Males possess bright yellow caps and yellow streaks on his body during the mating season. Closely related to munias, these little birds feed mainly on grass seeds. |
