Description: The Malayan Water Monitor Lizard is a large but common species of reptile found throughout Southeast Asia. Often seen swimming in mangrove waters, they feed on almost any small creature, sometimes even their own. This 6 footer was photographed basking on a tree trunk above the Kerteh River.
