Description: Young Penan hunters in the rainforest. Some Penan still wear the traditional 'avet' (loincloth). Every Penan hunter has with him at all times, a keleput (blowpipe), tabo (a tubular bamboo case that holds poison darts), telau (a dried gourd to hold flyers or stoppers of the dart, made of sago pith) and parang (a very sharp machete). If a hunt is extended, they build small hides or shelters from rain or to sleep in at night, like the one featured here. Penans are known to be masters of trekking and hunting.
