Description: A Lantern Bug laying eggs. Although the Lantern Bug can be found in many tropical countries, the pyrops species are found only in Southeast Asia. These hemipteran insects have been around for more than 300 million years. They possess a long odd looking beak called a rostrum or proboscis, which it uses to pierce tree barks to suck the sap.
